Bulbophyllum frostii. syn bootanoides. Sometimes refered to as 'Dutchmans cloggs. This species is found in Thailand, Vietnam and the Malay Peninsula. Unlike most species from section Cirrhopetalum which like to ramble, B.frostii is a relatively compact plant, with small rounded closely held psuedobulbs with 3cm long and rounded leathery dark green leaves. There are normally two or three flowers up to 2.5cm long. The lateral sepals are adnate and turned inwards also they are attactively marked, and have short stiff hairs; altogether a very unusual and attractive plant.
This plant has been promoted to the warm section of my greenhouse, it is sprayed daily and occasionally a little fertilizer is added.
