Dendrobium Oriental Paradise X Hamburen Gold
I have posted this in order to ask, Is this unusual for a soft cane to flower from the base of the cane, because I have never seen it before.

Davo, I have been growing soft canes for 20 years and have lots and this is the first time have seen one flowering from the base of the plant.

I can not find anyone who has ever seen this before, none of the flowers are the correct way up either, they are on thier side or upside down. It will be interesting to see what it does next year.

Just a thought, have you done anything different to your plants recently like use a new fertilizer or use a new insecticide or fungicide? Maybe this could be part of the strange behavior.

Hi Pawpaw,
Nothing has changed in my routine, all of my plants get the same fungicide,fertilizer etc. Must just be a freak I guess.
