Cattleya (C. labiata X C. Hawaiian Flare)
I have had this plant for three years now. The label on it said Cattleya labiata x Laeliocattleya haiwaiian flare. I looked it up on the web to find out whether is has been registered with any other name. I didn't find anything...
I did find however some Cattleyas hybrids contaning the haiwaiian flare denomination
Anyway, I find this one quite pretty. The pink is very vivid and the perfumed flowers are long lived. It is also a very robust grower. With regards to the name, I don't see much flaring on the sepals, perhaps just a little bit towards the tips.
I grow it like any other Cattleya, plenty of water and fertilizer in the warmer months and less of both in the cooler months. Lots of Sun all year round. Easy!
Cheers,
Chris

how can I be sure?
Thanks your input.
One things that I am abit confused with is that there aren't any photos or description of this hybrid on the RHS. So can I be sure that this is in fact the cross they mention there?
Chris
Yes it is this hybrid.
Yes it is this hybrid. I can see the characteristics of C. labiata.
C. Hawaiian Flare has strong "Aquini" like flares.
In my opinion the hybridizer used a dark C. labiata and that's why the flares are small.
Maybe some sister plants will have light pink petals and stronger flares.
