Dendrobium Peter is a hybrid between Den falcorostrum and Den fleckerii. I find this hybrid, as in did both the parents, quite difficult to keep growing well. Very few native orchid growers still have this hybrid alive and although I've owned this one for over 20 years, it has been down to a single leafles and rootles bulb on two occasions. It likes coars, moist potting medium but does not tollerate being wett for too long and most particularly hates potting mix that is acidic. It gets well perfumed flowers up to twice a year.

mixed parentage
It is probably a bit mixed up in it's genes. The two parents are a mix of a warmer growing tropical and a cooler growing southern parent aren't they?
It's a lovely thing Alex....worth trying to keep it going I reckon.

A masterpiece
Alex,
Browsing trough all this marvelous images you posted lately feels like to be in orchid heaven.
Most of the species I never did see before in my live, some I may have overlocked or did forget about because the lack of photographic skills made them meaningless to me. Because of the photographic skill now they mean something to me.
What you and your son did is an other example why OOL and his members are the best on the web.
Locking at this particular image I am overwhelmed by different feelings. This image has it all. The background showing the leafs are setting the stage for the flowers but not disturbing. The light gently concentrate on the flowers.
Then the flowers casually grouped are calling for attention.
All I can say: "A masterpiece".
