Tainia bicornis
Bicornis means two horned. I have added an image to emphasize the horns.
Great presentation!
The column looks like a little frog with purple eyes.
Congratulations, great presentation, great work.
Tainia
We don't see enough of the species from this genus. These images are first class, and the close-up aspects are stunning.

close up details
The close up details are wonderful but the in situ shot which is included seals this as a fantastic post.

Tainia bicornis
Thank you for the praise.
In making the images I have learned how to use the camera flash. I have had a constant problem with overexposure when using the flash. I have dragged a tripod and LED lights into the forest to make overexposed photos without the use of the flash. In the end I have found that I can reduce (or increase) the camera flash with 2 stops. Reducing the flash (adjusting the exposure compensation) by 2 stops gives detail in white and yellow colours at close range and the background disappears (underexposed). The lip of Tainia bicornis is bright yellow and you can see detail.
Usually I set the camera to a high aperture value to get the most depth of field. That increases the risk of a blurred image by a movement of the object or the camera. Using a high shutter speed decreases the depth of field and "the details of interest" are often out of focus. This can be overcome by using the manual focus function of the camera. It is cumbersome to use because you have to turn the dial, for close up focus quite a lot, to set the correct distance. The results are worth the effort.
great images and helpful camera tips
Hi Rik,
Nice images. I like looking at images or orchids in their natural habitat.
Also, thanks for the camera tips.
Cheers
