Bulbophyllum ovalifolium

Attached is a picture of B. ovalifolium section Monilibulbus, this section is characterised by its creeping rhizome, distinct psuedobulbs which are close together and have a one flowered infloresence As you can see there is a resemblance to your B. moniliforme and B. ovalifolium could be mistaken for that species.
The main difference are the flattened psuedobulbs and thin ovate to elliptic leaves up to 3cm long and 1cm wide.
B. ovalifolium is extremely variable over its range, general distribution Thailand, peninsular Malaya, Sumatra, Java and Sulawesi.

You are right

Hello Bernard,
Yes, by looking at the flower itself only, they do look alike. Unless of course if you examine them under the microscope, there will definately be differences.
Vegetatively is obviously different. However, there few other Bornean species that looks alike vegetatively to your B.ovalifolium. Careful examination is needed to ID them. In my case, I don't have the right references to do so. That's why help was needed :) Glad that you were able to tell me the sp. by just looking at the photo. I'm very sure it took you a very long time to be as good as you are now. Hope i can learn something from you.

Regards,
Daniel
