Dendrobium ochreatum
This plant requires a dry period and bright light in order to flower. Mine has not been watered for probably three months and all the old canes are looking pretty crook. The flowers come before the growth is fully matured and as yet no roots have come from the new growth into the mount.

Dry period (No watering) for 3 months
Hi Clawd,
The flower is very nice!
May I ask how did the plant survive the drought for 3 months?
Was the ecology humidity enough for the orchids?

Cruel to be kind
The glasshouse has a humidifier but it is only set at 70%. I will post another photo with the whole plant so you can see how desiccated the old bulbs are, these being the source of moisture. The new growths are like mini vampires. It seems counter intuitive in having no water whilst the plant is growing but without the dry spell, it just won't flower. I think the bulbs were about 70% of their current length when the water stopped. More flowers are out now so it looks more interesting.
