Steve Wells says "Found as a lithophyte or an epiphyte from New Guinea through the Torres Strait islands to Cape York and as far south as the Burdekin river. This species will form massive clumps and completely covers boulders in favoured locations giving the effect of looking like giant moss from a distance. It will flower throughout the year but mainly the period between October-January.
