Dischidia major
Listed as Dischidia sp but ID confirmed as per below comments.
This plant is unusual in that it grows and has buttons like the plant wellsy posted the other night but every so often along the stem it produces what I call a bunch of bananas. These are hollow and sometimes you do find ants in them, but not as bad as the 'Ant plant'. It occurs in North Qld.

West, after looking the web site I agree that this plant is Dischidia major and this name should be put to it.
