Ascocenda is a intergeneric man-made hybrid produced by crossing the two genera Ascocentrum and Vanda.

Ascocenda's are common in cultivation with numerous colourful cultivars which very nicely combine the large flower size of the Vanda parents with the colour and compactness of the Ascocentrum parents. In general they will bear 6 to 8 long lasting flowers between two or three times a year. The flowers are brightly coloured and often overlaid with contrasting colours.
