My Prosthechea cochleata var. cochleata is now starting to open it's all of it's buds in ernest now, so when I have several flowers open, I'll use the "Beast" (Canon 40D SLR) to photograph them, I'll have more control that way and put the newer images up.
As I am a professional photographer I have access to a large format printer.
I decided I wanted to try some different colours, so I made my own backgrounds such as this dark brown one, a green one (as with the green one I used to photograph this same flower on my Web site), blue and black, plus a graduated blue, black and green.
I have found that thinking outside of the square and making colours that contrast with flowers, you really don't have to be stuck to the old fashioned black.
Black is very good but a bit of variation can also add to the beauty of the flowers. I personally like the green graduated background I used on this Den on my Website. Just adds something a bit different to the ambience of the flowers.
I have found that now, I am thinking about what coloured background would really help the flowers I am photographing.

Hi Anton,
I have these identical flowers, one of my favorites.
I grew Dendrobium Theodore Takiguchi in the late 80's. I guessed this is one of the newer hybrids from that parent.
I will try to locate the name of my plants to see whether it might shed any light on IDing your plant, while awaiting experts to help us!
