Dendrobium moorei
Australian native species endemic to Lord How Island. This is a first flowering seedling. D.moorei are not common in collections probably because there were never manny collected but also because they are somewhat difficult to grow well. I've been strugling with the parent plant of this for about 20 years. This seedling was de-flasked and potted in to medium grade Perlite with sand topping. Other seedlings were potted in to various bark/Perlite/pebbles/coconut chip mixes, but non performed any where near as well as just straight Perlit and sand topping!
By the way any hints at getting good sharp photos of white flowers?

Hi West, Try using a black background with a matt finish, and try with and without flash, I find with some colours the background can make a big difference, in that you dont get a photo showing the true colours of the flower. I recently posted Rsc.Eve Marie Barnett, and it took me a few attempts to find the best background colour to show the true colour of the flower, as it turned out this worked best against a yellow background. So some experimenting is required. Hope that helps.
