Dendrobium aduncum

I purchased this orchid with the label Den anosum. Do you agree it is more likely to be Den aduncum?

Den aduncum

I agree this is definitly not D. anosmum.

maybe/maybe not

The photo is a bit hard to get much detail but if you compare to this one (especially the close-up) maybe/maybe not http://www.orchidspecies.com/denadunctum.htm

What do you think?

Den. ??

Hi Sibbie, has your flower got a very sharp point at the lip, I can't tell from this photo, if it has, you would be correct with Den. aduncum.

Den linquella

Sibbie has provided more photos above, we (Sibbie and I) now think this plant could be Den linquella.

Bill

flowers

Sibbie, That is one very distinctive pristine flower and a very sharp image. Hard to believe that it belongs to the scraggly plant you show in your earlier image.

Maybe buds coming now.

Yes, It is a strange and scraggly plant but the flowers are very beautiful though small. There are a whole lot of new buds or shoots coming out along the canes this week. If they all turn out to be bunches of flowers it should be quite a sight. Will post a photo in due course if worthwhile.
Sibbie

surfed for photos

Hi all, I have just surfed the net and looked at lots of photos of both Den aduncum and Den linguella and compared them with my plant. I become increasingly convinced that it very like or identical to Den linguella. If it is Den linguella, one website suggested it makes a good specimen plant given plenty of room.
The new buds continue to swell.
Sibbie

Confused

What's the difference between Den linguella and aduncum?

Den linguella and aduncum

Ian, linguella has a cone shaped structure near the base of the labellum, Den. aduncum doesn't.

We are waiting for Sibbie's flowers to be sure of the ID.
