I.....
I thought this is a Miltoniopsis now? Why is the Rhs still considers the Colombian section as Miltonia?
tonia or opsis???
Ian, I think your question is a little confusing, your asking about species on a submission for a hybrid.
Both Miltonia and Miltoniopsis are valid species according to Kew and this registration above is valid as per RHS.

Miltoniopsis
I was thinking that hybrid plants exclusively containing Colombian Miltonia's should be registered as Miltoniopsis.
While Brazilian hybrids exclusively containing brazilian sp should also be registered as Miltonia.
I recently looked at the RHS registration and found that the Colombian Miltonias are still registered as Miltonias instead of Miltoniopsis.
Monocot has already separated both genuses. My question is why are the Colombians still registered as Miltonias?
Now I get it!!!
Hi Ian, I see what you mean about the species changes from Miltonia to Miltoniopsis and understand your thinking about genus registrations.
The Monocot List for species is administered by Kew, Royal Botanic Gardens. Hybrid registrations are administered by RHS (Royal Horticultural Society)
These two bodies are completely separate, just because the species are changed by Kew doesn't mean RHS has to follow suit.
What we have here is an example of The Orchid Registrar exercising his option whether to accept species changes in relation to hybrid registrations.
Same situation as species Papilionanthe still Vanda, Hispaniella still Tolumnia, Euanthe still Vanda etc etc for hybrid registration purposes.
All we can do at the moment is accept how the names are listed on their Websites.
