Phalaenopsis deliciosa

? Name Change

Aren't these now known as Kingidium deliciosum now ?

I may be wrong, but don't think so.

Anton

What's your source??

Where is your info coming from Anton?????

Bill

still accepted

The monocot list still has that name EDIT: (Phalaenopsis deliciosa) END EDIT as being accepted guys.

re Name Change

From my research this is what I found:
Familia: Orchidaceae • Subfamilia: Epidendroideae • Tribus: Vandeae • Subtribus: Aeridinae • Genus: Kingidium • Species: Kingidium deliciosum (Rchb.f.) H.R. Sweet (1970)

Synonymum: Phalaenopsis deliciosa Rchb.f. (1854)

Who am I to argue ?

When I bought some flasked seedlings from Bali 12 months ago, I was told they are no longer called Phal deliciosa, but Kingidium deliciosum, so, I did some research and this is what I came up with. Most of what I found related to Kingidium and not Phalaenopsis.

But I won't argue with the might of the MASTA if I am wrong. ;o))

Anton

All very nice

Looks good Anton but I ask again, what is the source of your reference???

Not what it tells you.

Bill

These are the sources

It makes it difficult when so many sites say one thing and others disagree, there just seemed to be more sites using Kingidium as the name. But the MASTA has the last word, HE is the oracle and I won't argue with his findings.

It is so bloody difficult not just with this species but a LOT OF OTHERS TOO, such as Dockrillia / Dendrobiums.

I will now find a rock to hide under until this blows over.

Anton

trust the monocot list

Simply trust the monocot list Anton....they are the Masta's

If and when the monocot list revises the accepted names we will change them all here...until then just use the accepted name.

Presently all the Kingidiums have been relegated to Phalaenopsis.

From the monocot list.....

Kingidium P.F.Hunt, Kew Bull. 24: 97 (1970).
This name is a synonym.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Accepted Name: Phalaenopsis Blume, Bijdr.: 294 (1825).

PS: I don't understand why would you want to start this discussion and then go hide under a rock?
