Famous hybrid
Most orchid growers will have seen or heard of Sir Jeremiah Colman's famous cross of D.pulchellum X D.Illustre, the latter being a cross between D.pulchellum and D. chrysotoxum, which is of course Den. Gatton Sunray which was registered in 1919. The golden yellow colour is derived from D.chrysotoxum. I'ts worth looking up on the internet to compare with the picture above.

a sight to behold
Gatton Sunray is a sight to behold for sure Bernard. The cross has filled the flower in nicely and although it is pretty variable I have seen some magnificent deeply coloured plants which are to die for!
