Tolumnia Keysha 'Oka'

Tolumnia Keysha 'Oka'

Look a little different from the normal white Keysha that you may have seen???

This one was grown in very bright light and has brought out the pink colour, I have moved it back to it's normal growing area to see if the colour reverts to white.

Keysha

Hi bill, Its a lot pinker than mine, if you look at the flower on the right side of my image its white, I have 4 flowers on one spike, 2 are white and 2 have the pink tinge to them. There are 3 more spikes to flower, so it will be interesting to see how they come out.

It's all in the SUN!!!

Yes Davo I've noticed your white flower in your photo, the trick is to turn your plant toward the sun about every 4 days to get a uniform colour.

White is the preferred flower colour for this plant, you still have a chance with the rest of your spikes if you can find a shadier spot in your shed and remember to turn it.

Bill

trickery!

trickery! I'm shocked that you would stoop to trickery Bill! lol

Regards wellsy

Not TRICKERY!!!

A valid scientific experiment is what I call it, well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!! lol

Bill

'experiments'

Is that similar to those 'experiments' that certain orchid folk conduct just prior to attending a show with their favourite 'less than perfectly formed' flowers?

Regards wellsy

No, this is real

I understand what you are saying Wellsy but no, this is a real test to see what the plant does, Fritz is doing the same with one of his plants of Keysha.

We know the colour changes to pink in very bright light but have never bothered to see if it will revert to white if moved back to it's normal growing area, just thought we would find out for sure this year.

Flower colour

Bill, I now have all 4 spikes open on my Keysha, I kept the second opening spike facing away from the sun and the back of the flowers have a slight pink tinge but the front is white, the same is happening to the other spikes which are facing away from the sun. Good fun eh. The orchid widow thinks I have gone mad.

Flower colour

Yes Dave, it is fun playing games with these little plants.

Have you been up to Fame Orchids and bought any of their seedlings????? I think they are Eric Locke's breeding.

No Bill, I havnt looked at Fames seedlings, although most of my plants come from there or Burbank. I will have a look next time I am there.
