Here is a Dockrillia linguiforme I shot in Mullumbimby on a suburban tree. Noticed there are none in the library. I have more images too.

Hello jp72, might be a good idea to check your Dockrillia names under Dendrobium.

Was this tree just growing on the street or in someones yard????

In a front yard, in thick masses! I will post some more images when I have time.
Have these species been now classified as Dockrillia and no longer Dendrobium?

reinstated in Dendrobium

It's the other way around Jay. They were very briefly moved to Dockrillia but have since been reinstated in Dendrobium.

nomenclature

Can you tell me why this was done? They seem (to my novice eye) such a distinctly different genus to the Dends.

Thanks heaps for your input.

One needs not to be nuts to keep orchids, but it surely helps. . .

floral structure?

I am not 100% certain but believe it was based on floral structure. If you have a really close look at them they are the same as all the other Dendrobiums really.

good work

Thanks wellsy!

DNA

DNA proved they were in fact Dendrobiums.

There is only one Dockrillia still recognized, Dockrillia sulphurea identified in 2006 as a new species by our old friends, Jones & Clements.

If a new species of orchid were discovered in Queensland in 2006 it would have been big news in the orchid world. If or when a photo is published of this new species I suspect it will then be proven to be a Dendrobium also.
