Pawpaw
ludisia discolor
sorry pawpaw tried earlier but had trouble with the page, just wanted to know how long it took for your jewel orchid to get to that size, whats the best medium to grow them in. I have one in a 180mm pot.
Specimen Ludisia discolor
Davo, from a 160mm pot I went to a wire basket I made measuring 450mm x 300mm and used only volcanic rock (quincan gravel)It would have been in this basket for about 5 years before it got the award, Watered every 2 days during the year except in winter when I watered every 3-4 days.I used a slow release fert. 5-6 months. But sad to say after a year or so I had an influx of rats come in and before I knew it they had built a nest in the middle of it and nearly killed it before I noticed. But I was to late it finally died. I had it hanging outside under 80% shade cloth with no sides getting a lot of air movement.I hope this helps.

Poor Pawpaw
That is an absolute tradgedy Pawpaw, brought tears to my old eyes.
Do you still have a rat problem or have you got some cats now to sort them out???
Bill
Rats in pots
Not really a problem Bill but still get a few, I live on a cane farm,so there will always be rats around my place but with traps, bait and keeping a better eye on my plants things are under control. Sorry had a cat but to fat to catch rats, anyway it died of old age.
Eric
Rat Killer
Eric I think its time you get another cat or maybe a tiny tiger! An Owl or a falcon are excellent rat hunters and make good pets as well.
Rat Catchers
Maybe Bill could loan you his 3 "boys" for a while, and with a bit of persuasion next door's cat as well.
Three best mouse and rat catchers you are ever likely to find. That is, when they are not sleeping, which is most of the time. :o)))))
Anton
3 "boys"
Anton, what is the old saying....Like father like son. In this instance maybe LIKE BOYS LIKE FATHER Maybe Bill was a timber cutter once you know snoring wood ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Eric
The "3 Boys" Cleared Up
Bill's 3 Boys are cats. :o)))))))))))
Benny is a Tonkinese (Burmese/Siamese)
Berty is Burmese
Bluey just a Ginger moggy
Griffon is Norwegian Forest Cat ( next door neighbours' cat who just takes over Bill's place)
But, Bill does love his afternoon Poppy nap. :o))))))
Oooooohhh, I am deep trouble now ! ;o)
