Hi Bernabu, I've never seen this plant in any collection and only in a couple of overseas nurseries. Can you tell me what you pot your Bulbophyllums in ( type of pot and mix ) I use a couple of different mixes eg. straight sphagnum moss.... sphagnum moss / 3 parts and coarse perlite /1 part, both these do alright for me. I also am trying an equal mix of charcoal.. coarse perlite.. volcanic rock. All around 10mm. In this mix some are doing okay others are a bit slow. I know everyones growing conditions vary. So I try to get other peoples mixes to try. Pawpaw
potting Bulbo's
pawpaw, I can only tell you what works for me, there are no rules to suit all. When a bulbo gets to a certain size, I prefer to mount it firmly with a little sphagnum added, just enough to maintain a little moisture ( too much moss can smother the roots) on cork bark. My soft leaved bulbo's have a mixture of medium bark, lava rock and small sphagnum balls; these are then given more shade than other species. My hard leaved bulbo's are potted with medium bark and lava rock and if I want these to dry sooner than the others they are potted in clay pots. My mounted plants are sprayed early morning every day.
If I have a bulbo that has a few bulbs and has'nt flowered, I will move it to another position, or give it a complete shock, for example, I will place it under the bench and keep it dry for two or three weeks then lift it out, give it a good soaking and place it near the top of the greenhouse.
For me, this works 50% of the time, otherwise I just keep my fingers crossed and hope.
