Submitted by timsorchids on Wed, 20/08/2008 - 22:39
Hey guys if you can put these pics with the other post
could't work out how to add more pics to original post
I Have managed to untangle the bunch of worms
There were about 35-40 plants.
I have found a HUGE bottle 700mm H x 500mm W
With an opening of about 50mm
Have mounted a few plants on Bottle brush limb
have placed heat mat under bottle.
See how it go's.
Have also set up polyfoam box heat mat under box, glass on top
the mounts are cork, teracotta and some shredded rubber mat
(The rubber mat holds a heap of water)
Gravel in bottom 25-30mm of water.
I will post futher updates (Good or Bad)
Any comments welcome (Good or Bad)
Cheers Tim

Hi Tim, This surely is an
Hi Tim, This surely is an each way bet. I did relatively the same when I deflasked some Den. cuthbertsonii, mounted them everywhere, after a while had one left which went all the way to budding up and then damped off!!! You have given me the need to try again, so will go out and buy another flask. Good luck, will be an interested watcher of your reports!
Regards Simone
Interesting Orchids!!!!
Good luck, Tim, I hope you get these to flowering size, BUT, from the research I've done, it might be a challenge!
If anyone has more information, please help. As this is one orchid, that is remarkable!
Laroche
good luck
good luck tim, hope they all work out!
it will be interesting to see which mounts work best. It looks like you have the humidity up nice and high, do you have any air movement in there? I know some people reccommend against it but i think a fan will be in my box for sure.
I love the cork, will the bottlebrush shed its bark?
The pic of those little protocorms reminds me it might be a good idea to setup a few replate flasks in preperation so i can transplant them straight on.
What's your light regime? i hear they like high light.
2 weeks and Still Growing
Hi ndun
Its been nearly 2 weeks since deflasking
All seem to be doing ok.
Have sprayed with very weak fertiliser
the roots have grown so thats a good sign.
These no fan in bottle or poly box.
I may rig up a small fan over the next week.
Havn't lost one yet fingers crossed.
Bottle brush may lose its bark but will deal with that when it happens
The light regime Just normal light (sunlight)
Humidity is up nice and high
Cheers Tim

looks good tim, good to hear!
I deflasked mine today, replated the smallest ones and the protocorms onto fresh media, and put the 50 biggest into plastic mesh burritos with spanish moss... and put those in a 100% humidity tank with a fan
