Cattleya intermedia var coerulea
Hi,,is there any reason we do not show the varietal epithet and or the form epithet in the index??
If we have a type form eg.Cattleya harrisoniana and a Cattleya harrisoniana fma alba surely both should be indexed separately so as to make easier for members know what we have on file.
regards Ken.
Yes and no Ken
Yes Ken varietal forms are not listed in the heading if they are not recognized on the Monocot List, they are listed in the body field.
If a species has a clonal epithet it is listed in the heading.
No Ken, we do not list plant type forms in the heading if they are not recognized on the Monocot List, again they are listed below in the body field.
Regards Bill
Plant index
so what you are saying is that if we want our members to know the one of the Cattleya intermedia plants is the albino form or any plant that is a form or varietal of the type species we have to put a clonal epithet such as Cattleya intermedia fma alba 'Whitey'and then it will be listed separately in the index?
Regards Ken.
No Ken
I haven't said anything like that at all, you have it all wrong.
We list plants as per the Moncot List. I suggest you check for yourself, you'll not find var. coerulea or forma coerulea, that is why your plant has been listed as Cattleya intermedia.
Regards Bill
Great color
Dear Ken,
It is not common to find C. intermedia with a strong bluish purple color like your plant.
Does the petals and sepals show also a bluish shade or are they white???
