Hi Christine,I cant tell you definitely the name of your softcane because there are a number of hybrids this colour or similar. Going by my softcanes it would be one of Den. malones clones, either D. malones,....D. malones 'Picolo'.....D. malones 'Victory'. Also it could be D. Super Star 'Dandy'. All very similar. I hope I have narrowed it down a bit and somebody else can help you further.

Hi pawpaw, thank you, I have Super Star Dendi and it is lighter in colour and rounder. I was given a few softcanes with no name a few years ago, they are all quite nice. I do not know were you live but are your softcanes starting to flower too, mine are and normaly they flower at the end of August to September. Must be the weather, do you keep yours very dry in winter? I am trying to grow the canes nice and fat and hopefully they are going to flower all along the cane. Mine are outside in nearly full light but have a plastic cover over the top.

Hi Christine,I live in a cane farming area 100 km. north of Townsville in Nth. Qld. I'm actually 32 km. north west of Ingham and slightly inland and at the end of the Herbert valley. I have had up to 12 frosts here in a year so my soft canes flower well. I grow them in an area with 70% sarlon cloth on top with it comeing down the sides about 3 feet except for the western side where it goes down to ground. At the moment I have a few comeing into bud. They usually flower here in late August to end of Oct.I water one day week in winter and every 2nd. day the rest of the year and fertilize once a week from Oct. to May with a high K fert. at recommended strength.
