Neobenthamia gracilis Rolfe, Gard. Chron., III, 10: 272 (1891).
Tribe: Coelogyneae
Subtribe: Adrorhizinae
Distribution: E. Tanzania
Neobenthamia gracilis is a tall slender plant which tends to be very grasslike in appearance and the stems are very brittle, breaking quite easily when they are long. Plants are terrestrial or lithophytic, found growing on warm to hot rock faces. They need bright light to induce flowering and after they have flowered keikis will form at the nodes of the old flowers if these are left intact.
