Hello Abiom, I believe this flower of yours is a Cattleya maxima.

I have one in flower at the moment but it does not have the amount of colour in the throat as yours.

I am not totally convinced it's Cattleya maxima yet Bill but certainly has a large dose of that in it...I will post again on this one OK.

I have had a fair sort of a look around and still cannot decide if this is the species (Cattleya maxima)....it may well be but I wouldn't be the one to say that for sure...sorry.

Anyone else have an opinion here?

Hi Steve, I'm happy to keep looking at this one, always best to take time and be sure we have got it right.

When I looked at my flower it was in the dead of night by torch light.
