Hi to all,

I just wanted to say I am wanting to know where to buy some Spag moss in bulk and some gravel on the Gold Coast. I am buying some Phrags and Lycaste's from ezi-grow orchids in WA. I have already posted that I think that they are great, but have not had any response from your group. It is your loss, not mine. IF someone can answer me about the spag, I would be thankful. Maureen

Hello Maureen, I'm pretty sure Tropigro at 11 Merritt st. Capalaba, 3823 1500 sell sphag moss in bales.
Their transport courier delivers to me at Ipswich and comes from the Gold Coast so you would have no problem getting it delivered.

Spag moss
Thanks Bill, I will try them. How big are the bales? Maureen
moss
I don't use it myself Maureen but I know the bales are quite large, enough to do a lot of plants.
Depends on how many plants you have to pot, it might be easier to buy the dry cubes from Bunnings.

lycaste's
Hi maureen, i'm new and didn't see your previous post about the lycaste's, i have actually been thinking about buying some from ezi-grow myself, have you been happy with the plants, what size are they, as the list does not seem to give any size
plant size
Hi there, yep, for the plant types and their credits, I think they are a good size. When I spoke to Kevin from Ezi-Gro he told me that they were small, that they were from a flask and from Japan. Ring him and have a talk, but compared to the prices that I have paid for common orchids, I feel that they were good. I have bought from a number of orchid nurserys online and comparing, you could not go past these. The other person that has lycastes is Dark Star orchids, Hans has a lot of the more common crosses and very healthy plants also at good prices. Kevin's are a little more classier than these with their awards. Hope I have been of help. Maureen

Glad that I could help
Hi Brad, you need to use the info online or join an orchid society in your district. I am a member of 3 orchid societys in the gold coast district. That is how I have learned so much as well as the internet. I rely on word of mouth and other members experiences of societys to get the knowledge. My second cousin(Dad's cousin) is my wealth of info, would be lost without him, even with the building of a greenhouse, sorry, on the GC, 70% and Black is the standard for a "Green" house. Hope I have been of help, If I can help further, let me know. Maureen
spag
Hi Maureen, I know I'm a little late,as I don't get online that often, but if you have not yet found out where to buy spag, you can get a 3kg bale that rehydrates to 240L at Garden City Plastics 188 North Rd Woodridge and the bale is about 2 to 3ft cubed.
Regards Ken.
