Vanda lindyii

Sorry about this Pak Sheikh but the species name Vanda lindyii is not valid.

I've had a quick look at some options for the spelling, V. lindenii and V. lindleyana and your photo above is neither of those plants.

V. lindenii - no lobules on the midlobe of the lip.

V. lindleyana - this species is now Vandopsis gigantea, the whole lip structure of Vandopsis gigantea doesn't match your photo above.

Vanda tessellata

I have been checking and believe this may be Vanda tessellata pak sheikh.

Is the one shown here a smallish plant to 60cm tall with up to ten flowers about 5cm across?

If you could post a close up of a flower it would be good.

Vanda 1 & 2 photos

Hello Pak Sheikh, sorry about the delay with an answer for this one but we have not forgotten it, we (Wellsy and I) have been trying to identify it for you.

Wellsy thought it may be V. tesselata, that's close considering the colour variations but your extra photos at Vanda Unknown 2 show an erect inflorescence, V. tesselata has a semi erect inflorescence so that counts this theory out.

Your comment on VU2 after looking at IOSPE, you think it is similar to V. liouvillei, liouvillei has a distinct bifurcated lip (upside down v-shape) and again a sub erect inflorescence so that counts that species out.

I'll be honest with you Pak, the photo detail is not good (VU1 & VU2) and makes identification very hard but I think what you have may be V. limbata or at a chance, V. lamellata, both flower on an erect inflorescence and from what I can see from your photos, the lip structure is very close to these two species.

I do think it is more likely V. limbata but without better detailed photos I'm not prepared to say that is a positive identification.

Back to you guys, let me know what you think.

Vanda 1 & 2

Hi Bill,
I would agree with u due to poor photo quality its difficult for us to make any decission out here.Definitely its not tesselata Bill n also i can assure u guys that its not limbata or lamellata cos i have these two plant right here with me....
Ok i tell u what, right now this plant is about to spiking again n i believe it will be flowering in 1 mth time or less.
So for this time i'll try to get the best picture out of it...especially the lips structure.....for our confirmation. So for now i suppose can we just leave it as Vanda noid till we confirm it later.
Or may be Wellsy have better option...
