Spring Orchid Bonanza

Beautiful Bribie Island is the wonderful location of a "Spring Orchid Bonanza" in October 2008. The Bribie Island State High School Student Centre is the venue for this great event which will be staged on Saturday 11th October 2008 from 9.00am to 4.00pm and Sunday 12th October from 9.00am finishing at 2.30pm with Presentation of Awards. Those folk who visited STOCQ Triennial Orchidfest "Island Orchid Fantasy" in June 2007, will remember the great facility at the high school. There is loads of space for benched orchids to be displayed, plant sales, floral art etc as well as free off street parking and wheelchair access to all areas. There will be an excellent display of blooms and a good selection of orchid plants for sale by amateur and professional growers. All the accessories for successful orchid growing will be available from pots and hangers, potting mix and fertilisers to shadehouses and stands. Along with the beautiful, fragrant orchids, there is also a wonderful display of Floral Art by members as well as a great Craft and Cake stall where visitors can purchase all sorts of yummy goodies. With Christmas just around the corner, handmade local craft is always popular.

Why not call in for an hour or two over the weekend to enjoy this magnificent display. Members will be on hand to help you with advice on growing these beautiful plants. The $4.00 admission includes Morning/Afternoon tea. Group price of $3.50 is available for 10 or more attendees. Bribie Island is only about one hour north of Brisbane but is a world away from the hustle of bustle of city life. There are great places to eat, fantastic beach or bush walks or perhaps a trip up the Pumicestone Passage on the Ferryman.
