Synonyms: Encyclia polybulbon (Sw.) Dressler, Brittonia 13: 265 (1961).
Epidendrum polybulbon Sw
Bulbophyllum occidentale Sprengel
Epidendrum polybulbon (Swartz) var luteo-album Miethe
Dinema polybulbon is an easily grown species which can be treated like an Encyclia although it likes a little more shade than most other Encyclias. It will form dense mats if grown well in a shallow pot or mounted on a Tree Fern slab. Found growing between 600-2000m in oak forest or in fairly wet mixed forest. While it usually grows as an epiphyte, it is sometimes found growing on rocks and has a pleasant sweet fragrance.
