Dendrobium unknown 1

West

Hello West, any chance this could be a straight Dendrobium rigida and not a hybrid???

Bill

D rigida or rigida hybrid?

Greetings mcorchod,

In my oppinion it is not likely that the your photo is of the D rigida species, it is more likely to be a hybrid. The petals and sepalas of the species rigida are usually shorter and more rounded. I have a plant of D Numbat (rigida X lninguiforme) that looks a lot like yours. I'd like to enclose here my photos of both rigida and Numbat in flower but don't know how to do that. So please see the separate submissions shortly.

Thanks West

Great info West and photos of very hard to capture flowers.

By the way, it's not my plant, I was just going through the unidentified photos and had the thought that it might have been Den. rigidum.

Your comments and photos have put that idea to rest, thank you again.

Regards Bill
