Dendrobium Verninha

Dendrobium Verninha is a primary hybrid between Dendrobium discolor Lindl. 1841 x Dendrobium antennatum Lindl. 1843.
The plant is around the same stature (possibly a little taller) as Dendrobium antennatum with the flowers being a lovely intermediate between the two parents.
Grow as for the parents which includes winter warmth and a short rest with less watering and withold fertiliser. It can be mounted on a cork or treefern mount but in my opinion it probably does best in a pot of coarse bark sized according to the anticipated growth of the plant for the coming season. My best growing results have been when the rhizome is severed just behind the three leading psuedobulbs to encourage new growths behind the severed rhizome and then to repot these new growths separately in the next growing season.
The Dendrobium antennatum used to make this cross is believed to be what was once known as Dendrobium dalbertisii Rchb.f., Gard. Chron. 1878(1): 366 (1878). That is now listed as a synonym for Dendrobium antennatum. Another synonym for the same plant is Ceratobium dalbertisii (Rchb.f.) M.A.Clem. & D.L.Jones, Orchadian 13: 486 (2002).
