Dendrobium formosum Roxb. ex Lindl. in N.Wallich, Pl. Asiat. Rar. 1: 24 (1830).
Distribution: Assam, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Andaman, Thailand, Myanmar, Vietnam
Dendrobium formosum is member of the Nigrohirsute (the psuedobulbs are covered in short hairs) group of Dendrobiums.
These plants need strong light and a humid atmosphere with regular feeding when growing to ensure good growth and flowering. Reduce water marginally and cease fertilizing in winter months but do not let it dry out completely. This plant has always been in my collection labelled as Dendrobium formosum var Giganteum but the monocot list does not recognise that as being a valid variety.
