Dendrobium friedricksianum has chrome yellow sepals and petals with or without blotches at the throat of the darker yellow lip. Flowers are 5 to 6 cm and last for 2 to 3 weeks. Flowers are borne on the leafless canes after they have undergone a dry season so a winter rest is a requirement.
