Paphiopedilum victoria-regina (Sander) M.W.Wood, Orchid Rev. 84: 134 (1976).
Synonyms: Paphiopedilum chamberlainianum var. latifolium Schltr., Bot. Jahrb. Syst. 45(104): 3 (1911).
Paphiopedilum victoria-regina var. latifolium (Schltr.) Beckner, Selbyana 23: 196 (2002).
Distribution: W. Sumatra (Bukit Djarat)
Paphiopedilum victoria-regina has been found growing as an epiphyte, lithophyte
and also as a terrestrial plant. Found in bright light at around 700-2000m.
This is a sequential flowering species which can bear up to 30 flowers (only 1 or 2 open at the same time) on an ever lengthening scape to 600mm length. Plants will be in flower for a very long time but the spring is usually the best period. Best kept evenly moist all year round. Ken Smart (Grower).
