Sarcochilus falcatus is also known as the 'Orange Blossum Orchid' This species is endemic to Australia. It grows as an epiphyte or very occasionally a lithophyte, the species requires either a treefern or cork slab or a small basket/pot with an open well drained media.
Sarcochilus falcatus requires excellent air movement and should not be allowed to stay wet. In winter, withhold water short of shriveling the plant. An intermediate to cool growing species.
This is one of the most common of the Sarcochilus species and occurring in the tropics to eastern Victoria. In southern areas it is found from sea level to at least 1000m while in the tropics it is rarely found below 600m.
Found growing in rainforest trees exposed to quite bright light for at least part of the day and can also be associated with disruption of the forest either along roads or when the forest is recovering after large tree falls after storms or cyclones.
