Bulbophyllum lizae J.J.Verm., Bull. Jard. Bot. Natl. Belg. 54: 141 (1984).
Distribution: São Tomé
Found only on the small island of São Tomé, in montane forest at around 1400m altitude. 130 miles off the west coast of Gabon in west tropical Africa. 2 narrow leaves up to 10" long on 4" moderately flattened psuedobulbs. Rhachis pendant flowers creamy-green up to 1.5" long, sweetly scented. J.J.Vermeulen does not mention a purple flowered version of this species in his description, but I have one which has yet to flower. Watch this space.
