I left this as a Phalaenopsis for this reason Bill??

× Doritaenopsis Guillaumin, Arch. Mus. Natl. Hist. Nat., VI, 12: 613 (1935).
This name is unplaced.
Wellsy, your first post above is for Doritaenopsis from the Monocot list, it shows the make up for Doritaenopsis (Doritis x Phalaenopsis).Where it states "Accepted Name : Unplaced Name", all hybrid genus are listed this way and therefore has no bearing on the subject.
I agree that Doritis has been down graded to synonym status and that the accepted name for all species in this group is now Phalaenopsis.
Just because the Monocot List shows the accepted name for Doritis is now Phalaenopis does not mean that the registered hybrids automatically change to Phalaenopsis.
The International Cultivar Registration Authority for Orchid Hybrids (RHS) has the option not to accept Monocot changes that impact on registrations.
In this case I would say they have evoked the option.
RHS Parentage/Grex Name search shows Doritaenopsis as the accepted name.
Latest published Orchid Registrations May-June 2007, re-published in Orchids Australia December 2007, shows registrations still being accepted for Doritaenopsis.
My reason for changing your entry from Phalaenopsis to Doritaenopsis is covered in 'Books-How we check the validity of names' submiited by you.(lol)

What is the general community consensus here on this issue?
Regards wellsy
Definitely Doritaenopsis!!!!!
Can't follow your reasoning for leaving this as a Phalaenopsis, please explain???????
Bill
doritaenopsis included in phalaenopsis
aren't the RHS including all doritis in phalaenopsis now?
Edit: Updated Doritis entry just now after checking RHS
So that would make all doritaenopsis included in phalaenopsis??
Regards wellsy
Doritaenopsis
Combining Phal. with Dtps. as Phalaenopsis!!!!! I haven't heard or read anything about that.
Where is that information coming from??????
The RHS Website shows them as two separate genus.
Bill
Dorit points
I think some points need addressing here.
