Bulbophyllum medusae var. alba is the alba form, named after the Greek Mythological Gorgon Medusa. In reference to the lateral sepals which grow to 12cm long when well flowered. The umbel of flowers emerge from the base of the pseudobulbs in the cooler months, which can be a problem in cooler climates as the flowers need a hot steamy day to open well.
