Bulbophyllum lobbii is a variable species from the section Sestochilos which is commonly cultivated for its relatively large and well displayed flowers which in the case of B. lobbii are 6-8cm across. This species was discovered by Thomas Lobb in Java in 1846. Pseudobulbs have one leaf and are well spaced on a coarse rhizome. Best results in a shallow mix or mounted on cork or bark.
