Yes its for everything, if you have been cross breeding we will be able to detect the differences between orchids. I am capable to form a dendogram to show the relationship between your orchids and other orchids. This will help show how closely related your orchid is to other species. As well we will get a percentage indicator of what it is most highly match species.
It depends on the analysis, for example if you want a simple name and origin will be cheaper then an analysis which compares relationship between parents to the offspring. The information generated will be the relationship to other orchids and possible locations it originated from.
For one sample for a simple gene identification it will cost $75.00 AUS. Multiple samples will come at a discounted rate, 0.5 grams of the plant is all I need.
What happens is the following:
DNA extraction
Amplification of selected gene region (PCR)
Post PCR analysis
Clean up of DNA
Sequencing
Analysis of sequence
