May Have a Name

A friend may have figured it out, she specialises in Encylias and enjoyed this challenge.

"I could tell at first glance that it appears to be an Epidendrum hybrid as I didn't see many of the Encyclia characteristics in the foliage or bloom. So, I researched it using OrchidWiz and found one that is pretty much identical and two other contenders with similiar parentage.

Epicattleya Fireball is almost a dead on match...even though I could never say for sure I feel very strongly that this may be the ID on this orchid.

Also, Epithechea Orange Blaze or even Epithechea Orange Passion are close and they have similiar parentage with the Epidendrum cinnabarinum in all three. Neither has the purple/pink lip flare though. The Epc. Fireball is C. luteola x C. guttata x Epi. cinnabarinum. "

Does this help shed any light on it Bernard ?

Epidendrum id

Anton, many thanks for your help with the ID of this image.

To my eyes Epithechea Orange Blaze looks the closest match, I'll leave the name change until further feedback from other members. Hopefully they will be able to confirm the name with the info you (and your friend) kindly provided.

re Epi ID

I tend to agree Bernard, that one looks the closest to me and her.

Epicattleya

To me this is pretty likely Epicattleya Fireball. This hybrid has been available as a mericlone for twenty years or more.

Epicattleya Fireball

Thanks Michael, have checked the images with this name and it looks a perfect match. But others with different names also appear to be a perfect match.- Conundrum -.
