Bulbophyllum Frank Smith

This is one of the best Bulbophyllum hybrids I have seen.
B.curunculatum is dominant in this cross, it has given the multiflowered aspect also the lip has narrowed considerably to the apex. The auricles at the base of the lip are also contributed by B.curunculatum.

I have seen the spendid cross, B.echinolabium x B.curunculatum. It looks like curunculatum has a great future in future crosses.

B. carunculatum

I have another carunculatum hybrid, B. Summer Car (sumatranum x carunculatum), which I will post. While sumatranum is considered a synonym for lobbii (at least by Kew), carunculatum expresses itself differently in each grex. In Frank Smith, there are up to three flowers produced, blooming mostly concurrently; Summer Car (to date) produces two flowers successively, on a shorter inflorescence. The original grex (of which I believe mine to be) of B. Frank Smith was made with B. carunculatum 'Magnifico' and B. lobbii 'Kathy's Gold'. There are clones which are a bright, nearly clear yellow with a bright red lip.
